Apple wins over Samsung in Patent Case
Apple was recently awarded 1 billion USd in damages from a jury in a local patent case against samsung.

The jury has determined, that samsung had indeed copied the iPhone and iPad, infringing on several of Apples patents.

Amke it straight - the court and the jury does only act on valid law, so they are not evil or something like that.

But it IS eval, that such patents are possible at all.

Apple has a Patent called "Bounce Back" which is the animation when a user scrolles to the end of a list - this bouncing is patented - ridicolous

Also Pinch-To-Zoom Gesture is patented. Ridicolous too.

I may now patent the Bring-Phone-To-Ear-To-Talk Gesture - I will get rich!

I could also patent the handshake gesture .. brilliant idea indeed!

After all that's not a problem of samsung but of android and now as Apple has won against samsung, apple may now sue EVERY android device, because they use animation.. (and now they have too) - even more ridicolous

But well - the one whole purpose of this specific patent case was the shape of the iPhone:

A rectangle with round corners. I could go forward and patent a whell because it is indeed a circular shape and then I will sue everyone who uses wheels.

HOW RIDICOLOUS IS THAT?

Quote:

Samsung argued that Apple had no sole right to geometric designs including a rectangular form factor with rounded edges. The company called Apple's damage claims "ridiculous," and urged the jury not to side with Apple, as it would stifle competition and reduce choices for consumers. Until today, the ongoing battle and bickering between the two had become just as ridiculous, each side struggling to thwart the other side's strategy, even sparking amusing comments from U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh herself.
