Music Industry suffers from Anti Piracy Actions
This is just funny but it should get more attention and a little bit of analysis why this happens.

So over the last years, the income for music industry was falling. They said, it is because of piracy.

So over the last years there were enormous amounts of actions against piracy. Napster died (was replace), DRM (as cracked), megaupload was taken down (was replaced), P2P was engaged heavily (was replaced by different things), etc.

But all that actions did just nothing. Revenue of music industry is still falling without any differences. And the more actions are taken against piracy the more the revenue of music industry is shrinking.

That's something I've ever said. Music Industry just forgotten to watch WHY they lose income. It is not because of piracy, because pirates are not automatically lost buyers to the music inudstry.

Instead, when they close down every "piracy site" they lose a whole load of publicity and attention. So noone is going into a music store nowadays, if someone likes a song he found on the web or get from a friend, he merely wanted to by the album from that specific band.

So if you cut them the information stream - noone will get knowledge of which album to buy, so noone will buy.

And that's the reason why music industry will suffer heavily by engaging piracy that heavily like they did over the last years.

On the other hand, if they shut down P2P, pirates (und likes) will just find another way. For example mega.com, youtube, whatever. Music Industry will just NEVER be able to fight piracy effectivly, instead will cut their own revenue, producing costs for lawsuits and so much more.

Sadly tho, that's the truth. While piracy should not be the "general approach" to get stuff you like, it IS some sort of marketing instrument and many people will use pirated versions as some sort of estimation if it is worth to buy. So developers should give out demos or free versions and musicians just NEED the attention from youtube, radio to sell their discs.

Unfortunately, it is hard to find a good middle way through the overall problematic of piracy to not let it overwhelm and be the default. That should not be.

But normally: If someone pirates something and LIKE it, he will buy it later - or he would've never bought it over all.
