Asteroids on Rocks in Space
Hi Folks!

Today I want to talk about the Asteroids in Rocks in Space!

The Asteroids was one of the first things we implemented. We wanted them to be really generic in shape and size so we implemented a nasty small logic to do so.

Everytime the player finds a new Rock in Space it will be generated from scratch, filled with a random amount of resources.

If you decide to settle them, just send a Colonization Team, approach, land an built the main Building.

Each Building has Connection Points on six sides - it's a sort of little small hexagonal thingies. Each Tile is then connected through a tunnel - we call it "Transit Node" (wooh) - they are used to .. well .. travel from one Building to another .. sort of.

There will be also some Constraints for Building. The Living Quarters for example need a direct connection to the Live Support. Ore Drills need a direct connection to Ore Silos and so on.

The amount of Buildings is limited by the size of the asteroid, so you need to make some wise decisions if u invest more in defensing, Fleet Building, Ore Gathering or Living Space for your people.

There is also a need for resources. At the current stage we are working with an amount of multiple ore types - each one needed for building ships, rockets and upgrades.

At the moment we are still working on many of the available buildings and tweak them - we will not be able to deliver a mind-blowing level of detailled graphics, because we are not an enormous Game Studio which can afford 5 people to spent 1 month on creating a high detailled model - so please, dont flame us for the graphics at the moment :-)

Cool blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design. Kudos
